  3. Notes on the shareware distribution version (v1.91) of MINGSHU
  4.  
  5. Installation onto a hard disk is by copying the entire disk to the
  6. directory of your choice. (C:\MingShu is recommended).
  7.  
  8. There is only one executable file, Mingshu.exe. It should work with all 
  9. types of PC that have ANSI.SYS installed. If you have problems, and do 
  10. not know what ANSI.SYS is, consult a DOS manual. If you have ANSI.SYS 
  11. installed, ask for help.
  12.  
  13. You will need to have a collection of text files present. The *.SGN files
  14. contain the descriptions of the year signs. The *.CHT files contain the
  15. compatibility charts. You may view these files directly, and you may 
  16. copy their contents into other documents, PROVIDED YOU ACKNOWLEDGE the 
  17. Author/translator (Andrew C. Grillet) and indicate clearly that he should be
  18. credited if the copies are quoted in any shape or form.

  20. When you run the program, it will ask you the name of the querent. The
  21. Querent is the person whose horoscope you require. You should give his/her
  22. first name. Your capitalisation will be remembered, so use an 
  23. initial capital. (Eg John).

  25. You will then be asked the date and time of birth. Years from
  26. 1902 to 1998 are supported correctly as far as we know. Use
  27. local time without adjustment. (Daylight saving time is also
  28. not considered significant in chinese astrology.) The shareware 
  29. version currently only supports UK time format.

  31. The system responds with the number of days past Jan 1, 1900. This
  32. should be quoted in any query as to whether the correct sign has
  33. been given. (The internal almanac has errors in several places 
  34. for the year 1999.)

  36. The system then displays various aspects of the astrological 
  37. chart in turn.
  38.  
  39. The Chinese date and time of birth.
  40.  
  41. The Four Pillars of Fate (These are used to establish compatibility
  42.     with intended marriage partners).
  43.  
  44. The Wheel of Fortune. (Also known as the Cycle of Life or Heaven and 
  45.     Earth Plate).
  46.  
  47. The Description of the Year sign.
  48.  
  49. Modifications to the year sign to account for the day and hour of birth.
  50.  
  51. The chart of compatibility.
  52.  
  53. If you register, (£30) you will receive an updated version.
  54.  
  55. The current version (v2.01) can print a four page chart, including 
  56.     a full A4 page interpretation of the Wheel of fortune.
